Preparing Comforting Soups
Now there’s a comprehensive list of soup recipes, ranging from those that are very healthy and easy to make to ones that offer a bit more of a challenge for chefs and amateur kitchen cooks.
However, there are a few things that you need to bear in mind when you are making your next soup. Whether it is cooking time or having the right amount of space in your kitchen, each one will affect how your soup will turn out. Here are just a few that are worth remembering:
Remember All The ingredients
One very important thing that you should remember is the ingredients. You don’t want to get halfway through making your soup only to discover that you’ve missed out on a very vital ingredient, which might cause you to bin the whole recipe.
Read the ingredients carefully before embarking upon your recipe. This way you can be sure that you have not left anything out. Make sure that you measure everything precisely and to be sure that you won’t have to worry about it tasting too salty, sweet or spicy.
Prepare Your Cooking Area
Having the right amount of space for your ingredients is very important when it comes to cooking your food. If you have a small kitchen then we would recommend that you don’t attempt anything too ambitious, as this might lead to poor timing, which could ruin your meal.
Having enough space will be important for sorting out the workflow of your meal, so you can see where certain ingredients are and when to add them. If you do have a smaller kitchen, then we would suggest that you try some of the smaller soups to avoid getting overwhelmed.
Make Sure You Have The Right Utensils
Having the right tools for the job is one of the most important things that you can have when it comes to cooking, and cooking soups is no different. Some of these recipes require a slow cooker, so we would recommend that you buy one of these before you attempt any of the slow cooker recipes.
My favorite slow cookers are below:
- Crock-Pot 8-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker
- Crock-Pot 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker
- Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cook & Carry Oval Manual Portable Slow Cooker
- Hamilton Beach Portable 5-Quart Slow Cooker
- Instant Pot 8-Quart Auro Pro Multi-Use Programmable Slow Cooker with Sous Vide
Do Not Substitute
You might be tempted to swap one ingredient for another if you cannot find what you are looking for. However, more often than not, this might throw the whole balance of your meal completely off-kilter. Is a potato an effective substitute for a carrot? Probably not, even if they do have the same texture.
We would also recommend that you do not go too heavy on the spices when you are prepping your soup. Too much spice will often overbear the other flavors in your pot and might even cause you to choke as your throat starts to spasm.
Our Final Say
We hope that our list of 30 soups has given you everything that you need for a delicious and comforting meal. A lot of them are very easy to make, but make sure that you have all of the ingredients before embarking upon your dish.
A lot of the soups are vegan and vegetarian friendly and you can even amend some of the meat dishes to make them suitable for vegetarians. Try mixing and matching flavors to get interesting new combinations.
