Banana Split Dessert Tacos
Banana split dessert tacos are a delicious new way to experience all the flavors of the classic banana split. My favorite part of this no-bake dessert is that you don't even need to worry about finding banana ice cream. You make your own!
While the process is super easy to make this, you will want to allow at least 2 to 4 hours for the banana mixture to freeze. Once it is frozen, you can assemble your dessert tacos easily in minutes. Then, they can be frozen again until ready to serve!

How to Make Banan Split Tacos
In a large bowl, combine the whipping cream, dulce de leche, and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer to whip until stiff peaks form. To this, add in the mashed bananas, whisking until just combined, but be careful to not deflate the mixture. Spread the banana mixture over the parchment-lined baking sheet. Loosely cover, and freeze for 3 to 4 hours.
Once the banana mixture is frozen, use a cookie cutter to cut out the circles of the ice cream. Cut each circle in half, then place it back into the freezer in a container with a lid.
If using homemade waffle cones, make those now. If not, you will gather supplies for assembling the banana split dessert tacos.
Depending upon the style of cone used (taco, bowl, or traditional), you will need to melt and coat or drizzle the chocolate candy melts into the cone and then let it harden. When the cones are coated in chocolate and add the banana ice cream.
Then, top with a portion of whipped cream, and 2 cherries. Add sprinkles if desired.

I am making the ice cream banana flavored instead of adding sliced bananas to my banana split taco. Then you want to top it with traditional toppings, like whipped cream and cherries.
A traditional banana split includes bananas, vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, strawberries, pineapple, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries.
This banana dessert taco is best when eaten right away. However, it should last in the freezer for up to 3 days if it is covered or stored in an airtight container.
The bananas in the ice cream make this have an altered color and flavor after 3 days. You can use more traditional ice cream and save them for up to 3 months.
Absolutely. Homemade dulce de leche or store-bought both work great for this dessert taco. Store-bought dulce de leche is great because it is a huge time saver, but I always love homemade. If you have a favorite recipe, you can certainly use that instead. Once you have made your homemade dulce de leche, use it to make the ice cream.

- ½ cup whipped cream (120ml)
- 8 maraschino cherries

Instructions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the heavy whipping cream, dulce de leche, and vanilla extract. Use the whisk attachment and beat on high speed until stiff peaks form.
- Add the mashed bananas to the mixture and whisk until well combined.
- Spread the mixture out on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze it for 3-4 hours.
- Once frozen, use a circle cookie cutter to cut out circles of ice cream. Cut the circles in half and place them back in the freezer while you prepare the taco shells and toppings.
- Melt the chocolate candy melts or almond bark and spoon it into the inside of the taco shell. Put the shell in the freezer to harden.
- Add the banana ice cream to the taco shells.
- Top the ice cream with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a maraschino cherry.
Notes
- Due to the bananas in this ice cream, it will spoil after about 3 days. If you want to make these dessert tacos ahead of time, omit the actual fruit and use 1 tablespoon of banana flavoring instead. This will extend the shelf life to a maximum of 14 days.
