There is nothing better in summer than a warm slice of this fresh strawberry bread. It's just sweet enough to feel like dessert and easy enough to whip up any day of the week. I've served this for breakfast, dessert, or just as a snack! Add the simple glaze on top for just a little more moisture and flavor. You can't go wrong with this easy recipe.
Fresh Strawberry Bread
Fruit breads are something I absolutely love making. Blueberry and banana are of course classics, but this strawberry bread is in a whole other category of deliciousness. It has that sweetness you want with just a hint of brightness that comes from the berries. Plus, it's so pretty when cooked and topped with a simple glaze!
If you are looking for a new bread to add to your breakfast or snack menu, this is a great choice. You can make this in under an hour and serve it hot or cold. It is kid friendly, tasty, and just enough for one large loaf.
Can I Use Frozen Berries Instead of Fresh?
While I prefer using fresh berries in this recipe, frozen will work in a pinch. Just let them thaw a bit and pat dry before adding into the batter. Frozen berries do have more liquid so they tend to make the batter too moist if you don't pat some of the liquid off before baking.
You can also add mixed berries to this rather than just strawberries for a little different flavor. They will pop with more brightness and result in a perfect breakfast or brunch treat.
Do I Have to Refrigerate Sweet Breads?
For this recipe, it is not necessary to refrigerate it after cooking. This strawberry bread is good for up to 3 days if stored in an air tight container on the counter. If refrigerated, it's good for up to one week.
You can also freeze this bread for later. If you decide to freeze this, I recommend leaving the glaze off, slicing it into pieces, and placing a piece of wax paper between each piece of bread before freezing. Strawberry bread is good for up to 4 months in the freezer. Just make sure to date and label it before freezing. To thaw, just place in the refrigerator overnight. You can even thaw it on the counter if desired.
What Glaze Should I Put on This?
I added a simple strawberry glaze to this recipe because I love the added sweetness on top of the slice of bread. You don't have to add anything to this bread if you don't want. It's delicious just like it is, even without a glaze.
You may also want to add a simple powdered sugar glaze, or any of your favorite icings. Strawberry pairs well with lemon or citrus in general, so a lemon glaze would also fit this recipe perfectly if you wanted.

Another option I enjoy is cinnamon rolls with cream cheese glaze. While not a sweet bread, they are perfect at breakfast or brunch. I also love making chocolate caramel bread pudding as a breakfast or brunch treat. Everyone seems to always enjoy it.

Chef's Tip
When baking sweet breads, I highly recommend using silicone baking pans for the best results when removing from the pan. The flexible silicone pan doesn't require added grease and is more flexible making it easy to remove baked goods after cooking.
