This one has tons of tasty ideas on it featuring Oreo's, the best cookie ever, that kids will absolutely love!
Oreo Cookie Charcuterie Board
Oreo cookies are iconic and a favorite in our house. They are also ideal for dipping, decorating, and arranging on a dessert platter. There really is no event where an Oreo wouldn't be welcomed! So, adding them as the center of a charcuterie board just makes sense, and this one is super fun to make. Whether you grab the kids to make this or do it yourself, it's sure to be a favorite choice of everyone at your holiday parties!
How Do You Make a Cheap Charcuterie Board?
If your budget is small, then this is a great choice for you to add to your holiday menu. One of the key parts of making an affordable grazing board is that you need to look to items you may already have on hand, or that are affordable in large quantities. Since cookies come in packages with 20-30 for under $5 each package, they are perfect to add to a board like this one.
The other thing to remember is that the board itself doesn't have to be fancy. You can use any platter or cutting board. For mine, a regular wooden cutting board I already had in my kitchen was the perfect base. Below is an overview of the cost of this board to give you an idea of how much you could expect to spend.
- Cookies: $5.00
- Pretzels: $1.99
- Marshmallows: $1
- Candy Canes: $1.99
- Hershey's kisses: $2.50 (for whole bag but you don't use all for this)
- Almond bark: $2.50
As you can see, this board could easily cost under $15 to prepare, and possibly less depending upon if you have some of these items in your pantry already!
What All Can I Add to This Board?
One of the best things about a grazing board is that you can add or take off anything you want! This is Oreo themed, but can be updated with all kinds of different candies or cookies. Generally speaking, I made this one with kid-friendly treats and holiday candies. Below are a few other ideas that you might also enjoy adding to this board.
- Peppermint Christmas Truffle Recipe , Reindeer poop Oreo truffles, or Rudolph reindeer truffles
- Christmas Fudge or Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge
- Hot Chocolate Pretzel Rods or Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Rods
- Holiday Snack Mix
- Christmas Tree Marhsmallow Pops
- Reindeer Rice Krispie Treats
- Chocolate covered cherries
- Toffee or Caramels
Of course, you can also add savory items to this board like peanuts, chips, plain pretzels, or even cheese crackers. I love the idea of this being all about the kid-friendly chocolate treats, but I also love the idea of it being a combination board for kids to enjoy a "meal" from at a party.
What Should I Use as the Base for My Charcuterie Board?
I usually reach for an ordinary cutting board. They are already on hand and something that is sturdy enough to hold a significant amount of food. It's especially handy with kids around. A wooden platter or board is ideal since kids are less likely to get hurt if it drops.
Other ideas include using any a large plate, platter, or even just a piece of cardboard you've wrapped in wrapping paper. I also love the idea many are using of putting butcher paper on the center of the table and then covering with charcuterie items as a fun way to create a dinner for families. Grazing is tons of fun with savory foods, and the sweet stuff is delicious too!
What Is on This Grazing Board?

How to Build a Charcuterie Board with Oreo Cookies
Begin by placing your main items or larger items onto the board. I used the plain and dipped Oreo's on the outside and in lines on the inside of the board.
Tuck smaller items into the open areas matching flavors together.
Fill in any gaps with the smallest items, in this case the candy and marshmallows.
