Frequently Asked Questions
Some recipes have been around forever and some recipes are inspired because someone got creative one afternoon. With sausage stuffed crust pizza, someone decided to make cheese-stuffed crust pizza up a notch. Once this recipe found its way onto TikTok, the wildly popular social media app, this became a fast favorite.
You can use whatever kind of sausage you like when making this sausage stuffed crust pizza. I prefer Italian sausage when I make it, but any kind will work. You do want to use bulk sausage that you can crumble when you cook it.
The most important thing is to make sure the sausage is fully cooked before putting it into the pizza as the baking time is not enough to cook the sausage through.
Yes, you can easily use store-bought refrigerated pizza dough instead of making homemade. There are a lot of options for pizza dough on the market. If you want a more authentic dough for your pizza instead of store-bought but you do not want to make it from scratch, stop by your local pizza place. Many of them are willing to sell pizza dough.
Mozzarella is always the go-to cheese for pizza. Pizza cheese is also available. Pizza cheese is a mixture of cheese, usually consisting of low-moisture Mozzarella or Provolone, and sometimes, depending on the brand, other cheeses are also included.
When you are making pizza, you can get creative. I have made stuffed crust pizza with different cheeses. A good mixture of mozzarella and cheddar cheese for a delicious twist is always fun. That is the great thing about pizza, if you like the flavor combination, you can put it together on a pizza.
Pizza is amazing to freeze. You can make these stuffed crust pizzas and then freeze them before you bake them. This is similar to the frozen pizzas that you get at the grocery store. Then you can take the frozen pizza out of the freezer and bake it, from frozen.
You can also freeze the individually frozen baked pizzas. You can take the baked pizza and then freeze it as a whole or you can freeze it in individual slices. I like to freeze however many slices I will eat in a sitting. Then I can take out just what I need and not have to worry about having any waste. Just take out the slices of pizza and then reheat the pizza in the microwave or oven.
