TikTok Chocolate Chip Cookies
There are probably thousands upon thousands of variations on the chocolate chip cookie, but this one is super fun and easy to make. Unlike a more traditional recipe, this just uses white sugar rather than brown sugar, but you aren't missing any flavor. It is soft, delicious, and sweet.
If you like the idea of more chocolate or a more traditional recipe, you might want to try these monster chocolate chip cookies or this chocolate chip cookie cut-out cookies recipe instead. Both are tasty but do take a bit more work to prepare. Of course, my personal favorites happen to be these copycat DoubleTree cookies that are loaded with chocolate.
Variations of the TikTok Chocolate Chip Cookie
Cookies are such a great idea for dessert because of how versatile they are. This simple doughy can be the base for many flavors. While we love the little bits of chocolate that are traditional, you can definitely use any of the add-ins below to give your cookie a different texture or flavor.
- Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, cinnamon, butterscotch, or caramel chips.
- Chopped pecans, walnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, or hazlenuts.
- Dried cranberries, cherries, or golden raisins.
- Shredded coconut flakes.
- Candy bits such as Heath bar, M&M's, or caramel bites.
- Crushed Oreo cookies, Snickers bars, or Butterfinger candy bars.
When adding anything to the recipe below, make sure you keep the total amount of add-ins to between ¼ and ⅓ cup total for the best results.
Ingredients
- Butter
- Egg
- Sugar
- Vanilla sugar
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Mini chocolate chips (milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate)

Frequently Asked Questions
There are two ways to make sure your cookies stay soft. The first is the heat and cooking time. Don't overcook them and they will be softer. The second is to make sure there is a good fat ratio to dry ingredients. Since this recipe uses both butter and eggs, it is a nice soft result.
You can definitely use salted butter when making cookies, however, if doing so make sure you do not add additional salt. This recipe does not include salt so would be fine to make with salted butter.
This recipe doesn't have the usual brown sugar that you may be used to in a cookie. While it isn't necessary, it may mean that your cookies are not as sweet. You can replace ¼ cup of the white sugar with brown sugar if you prefer for a sweeter result.
Traditionally, a semi-sweet chocolate chip would be used in this cookie recipe. If you prefer sweeter you can use milk chocolate, or if the bitterness is your favorite, a dark chocolate chip or chunk would be better.
Cookie Storage Tips
When stored in an airtight container at room temperature, these are good for up to two weeks. If stored in the refrigerator, they are good for up to one month.
You do not need to refrigerate these cookies once baked. They can however be refrigerated so they are fresh for longer.
Yes. You can freeze this cookie dough before baking for up to 4 months. Once baked, the cookies can be frozen for up to 6 months. Just roll the dough into a log, wrap well with plastic wrap, then place it into a dated and labeled freezer storage bag. When ready to bake these, let thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bake as directed or slice and bake from frozen adding an additional 5 to 6 minutes to the baking time.
